I’m thrilled to share some great news for our local neighborhood: the persistent ponding and drainage issue at the intersection of Stevenson Road and Laval Drive is finally being fixed!
The Power of Following Up
This journey started back in February when I first submitted a formal complaint to the city regarding the standing water and poor drainage in the area. Drainage issues like this aren’t just an eyesore-they can turn into serious hazards during winter freeze-and-thaw cycles.

Persistence was key to making sure this stayed on the radar:
- February: Filed the initial complaint.
- March & June: Reached out for follow-ups to track progress.
- Recently: Sent another update request to check in on the timeline.
Originally, the city anticipated the project would start later in the fall. However, in their latest response, they confirmed that crews are already actively working on the fix!

A Big Thank You
A huge thank you to the City of Oshawa and the road maintenance teams for prioritizing this repair and getting to work sooner than expected.
With these upgrades underway, we can look forward to safer, clearer roads at Stevenson and Laval—and hopefully, a winter free of localized flooding and ice patches.
